Get involved
We'd like to hear from you.
Three ways in
Become a member
Join the Coalition as a formal member and help shape the future of responsible sand and silicates sourcing. Members co-create guidance, pilot solutions, and benefit from early access to tools, networks and shared intelligence.
Organisations that join during 2026 — our incorporation year — will be registered as Founder Members, with the additional right to appoint a participant to the Coalition's Advisory Council. This is a time-limited opportunity to shape governance from the inside.
Work with us on strategy
If you're confronting sand and silicates risks or opportunities in your supply chain, operations or policy work, we can help you develop a strategy for engaging with these materials responsibly. You don't need to be a member to start this conversation.
Partner on projects
Collaborate with the Coalition on demonstration projects, targeted research, or regional pilots. Whether you're a standards body, research institution, or industry partner, we're open to exploring what effective collaboration looks like.
What membership involves
Membership is open to organisations that have a clear stake in how sand and silicates are sourced, used or governed; that support the Coalition's purpose; and that are willing to contribute constructively to shared work.
In practice, that means shared commitments to engagement, good practice and collective problem-solving. The details are set out in the membership agreement.
Fee structure
Aligned with our ways of working, we're co-designing the fee structure with our Founder members.
Fees will be structured around the size and nature of the organisation, and aligned with the level of claim that comes with being a member of the Coalition. We're working to ensure the approach is fair, transparent and supports the Coalition's long-term sustainability.
The fee schedule will be shared once it's been finalised. If you have questions in the meantime, or want to talk through what membership might look like for your organisation, we're happy to have that conversation.
2026–2028: What to expect
Membership supports the Coalition's delivery of practical tools and demonstration projects. Over the first three years, members can expect us to:
- Complete our spin-out process from The University of Queensland, with legal registration and initial organisational setup completed by May 2026.
- Define what responsible sand and silicates means in practice, and turn it into usable guidance. We're running a Sprint process for our founder members from March to May 2026 to lay this foundation stone for Coalition members and clarify what claims can be made by being a member.
- Host our public launch at IKEA of Sweden in the week of 1 June, alongside our first formal advisory council meeting.
- Keep the conversation going at key events throughout the year — you can find us in person at: Sustainable Buildings & Construction Summit 20–22 April (Lausanne, Switzerland), The UQ-ICMM Tailings Innovation Summit 17–20 November (Brisbane, Australia). We'll update as events are confirmed.
- Consolidate all we're learning into accessible thought leadership, useful synthesis, and inspiring case material, and share these regularly on our LinkedIn channel.
- Scope demonstration projects in live settings, with materials-focused developments to test and adjust supply chain due diligence tools in select supply chains in 2027 and 2028.
